JAPAN SLOWS DOWN VEHICLE OUTPUT DUE TO CHIP SHORTAGE 

Toyota has lowered its October production estimate by more than 11%, due to a continued shortage of semiconductors, this Japanese carmaker reported in late September.  The company said it had initially estimated September-November productions to average 900,000 units per month, but revised October’s estimate lower to 800,000 units because of the issue of microchip supply.
